Dr. Goodhart is board-certified in Internal Medicine and Infectious Disease and has over 35 years of practice experience. As the president of his own private practice since 1981, Dr. Goodhart now restricts his medical practice exclusively to Hyperbaric Medicine.
Throughout his practice experience, Dr. Goodhart has remained an active member of the medical community, through scientific publications, organizations and more. His work has been published in many different peer-reviewed journals and Dr. Goodhart has also presented this work at conferences and meetings across the country. He is a Fellow of both the American College of Physicians and the Infectious Disease Society of America, and is a member of the Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society.
He has also held several hospital appointments throughout his practice history, including at the Georgia Baptist Medical Center in Atlanta (now named Atlanta Medical Center,) where he founded and directed Georgia's first hospital based Department of Hyperbaric Medicine in 1987. He also opened Georgia's first physician-owned and operated office-based hyperbaric oxygen-treatment facility located in Decatur, Georgia.
Dr. Goodhart received his medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, and completed his postgraduate residency training in Internal Medicine at the State University of New York, Upstate Medical Center. Dr. Goodhart then completed a fellowship in Infectious Disease at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.
In addition to his medical training, Dr. Goodhart has a law degree from the Georgia State University College of Law, where he graduated magna cum laude. Dr. Goodhart practices law in Sandy Springs, Georgia, and is a member of the Georgia Trial Lawyer Association.
In his spare time, Dr. Goodhart enjoys the martial art of Brazilian jiu jitsu. He competed in the 2008 World Championship in Rio di Janeiro and won the gold medal in his age and weight division. In the 2008 Pan American Championship he won the bronze medal in his age and weight division. Dr. Goodhart is married and has two children.
